Back in the Saddle

This isn’t the first time I’ve started a draft while I kill time traveling, but for the first time in over 6 years, I think this is one that I’ll share.

A lot has happened since I last posted my writing. In some ways it feels like I’m a completely different person than I was in March of 2020. But writing always brings me back. There’s a core piece of me that I think I can only reach when I take the time to be intentional and write. Although my outward expression and experiences might change, the way I frame it in my head always remains the same — finding meaning in the simple moments and little details.

It’s good to be back. I’ve missed this connection; with myself and with the people who care to read my stories. And boy do I have stories to tell. Those drafts I mentioned? I can’t wait to dig into them and reflect on the way I felt in those moments and the way they’ve formed my perspective today. In a lot of ways, I’m glad I sat on them for a few years. Each trip is like a block in a bigger story, sometimes building and other times falling on each other like dominos.

Where do I even begin? The solo trip that changed my life, the time I lost my phone while traveling (actually I’ve done that twice, unfortunately), the people who have connected me from adventure to adventure, the life lessons I’ve learned from the Pacific Coast to the Greek Isles. And considering I get restless if I go more than a few weeks without getting on a plane, there’s definitely still more stories to come.

Many of the most important people in my life today I still hadn’t met when I last posted a blog. I can’t wait to reflect on how their presence in my life added to those moments, and share a piece of me that maybe you didn’t know. I’m thankful to connect again with myself and anyone else who chooses to come along with me. It feels good to prioritize myself, my time, and my creativity again.
